How Lady Bagpiper Pat Became a Bagpiper

I was drawn to the bagpipes one evening during the break time at a local dance. There was a bagpiper visiting from Canada who was playing his pipes! It was so impressive to hear the sound of the pipes in the same room that I could not sit down but found I could only stand to listen.

After he finished I spoke to him and was very excited to discover that I could learn to play! He met me at the Highland Games in Winter Springs the following January of 2000 and helped me select a practice chanter. He then introduced me to his friend, a piper and instructor that played locally so I scheduled to take lessons.

Several instructors and pipe bands later I find that I am giving lessons to new pipers and was the Pipe Sargent/instructor for the grade 5 Rosie O’Grady’s Bagpipe Competition Band In 2013, with 1st place results in the January 2014 Winter Springs Highland Games.

You might also see me dancing the Highland Fling or the Sword dance during some of the band performances, or giving instruction for the dance to band members, or individuals or event group of students at an elementary school.

Everywhere I travel, my pipes are there with me and I always find a place where I can play… and play I must, as I was called to play the bagpipes.

Vic Krepacki Retirement Ceremony

Vic Krepacki’s comments:

Dear Pat –

I cannot tell you how much all of us who attended my official retirement ceremony from the US Army PEO STRI organization in Orlando enjoyed your performance that day! Not only was your opening song spot on in clarity, tone and sound, the way you looked in your traditional Scottish military outfit as you led us in procession was incredible! And your rendition of Amazing Grace during the tribute to my Mom and Dad during the ceremony was both beautiful and touching. As many could tell by the tears that were welling up in my eyes when I was listening to your timeless performance done with such elegance and reverence, I was indeed truly touched. You are not only an amazing performer, you are a very special person, filled with warmth and kindness. We were all very blessed that day to have had you as part of what will always be a very memorable ceremony for me. It would not have been the same without you there!

Vic Krepacki, US Army Project Director (RET), PEO STRI Orlando

Adrianne’s Wedding:

I could not have imagined a more cool moment than when my guests arrived and Pat was playing her bagpipes at my ceremony. It was such a memorable special touch! My guests are still talking about it 6 years later! Pat was very accommodating, very easy to communicate with and during a stressful planning time, she was one vendor I did not worry about at all! I would highly recommend. -Adrianne

Gateway Center for the Arts comments:

Pat Czar has participated at numerous “Youth Celebration of the Arts” at Gemini Springs for Gateway Center for the Arts as well as for the opening of the center in 2009.   She has been excellent and reliable over the years and we always look forward to having her perform as she wanders through the park.  Children and adults love hearing the lovely piped music that Pat brings to the event.  I gladly recommend her for any event knowing how much she brings to it.
